Frictionless Arrival & Transportation
Peace of Mind Page: Eliminate stress before you land.
Your arrival at the Saralya Sanctuary should be seamless. Whether you are landing by air, rolling in by bus, or looking to rent a scooter for your first temple run, this page breaks down the safest, most efficient ways to move.
Arrival by Plane: The Two Gateways ✈️
Most travelers arrive via one of Cambodia’s two main international hubs.
1. Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI)
The Direct Route. Located ~50km (1 hour) from Siem Reap.
For transfer from the airport, we offer the “Saralya Driver” Advantage (Recommended)
Eliminate airport stress entirely. Skip the app confusion and the heat.
Airport Transfers (The Effortless Arrival)
- The Service: Our trusted driver meets you at the arrivals gate holding a sign with your name, greets you with a smile and cold water, and drives you directly to our gate in air-conditioned comfort.
- Cost: $30 USD (Car) or $45 USD (Van).
- Why it’s a deal: A standard Grab Car often costs $31 – $36 USD. You get premium service for less.
- How to Book: Message John and Heather with your flight details. We handle the rest.
Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH)
The Capital Route. Located ~320km from Siem Reap.
If you fly into the capital, you have two ways to get to us:
- Domestic Flight: A quick 45-minute flight from PNH to SAI. Airlines like Cambodia Angkor Air fly daily.
- Bus/Van: The budget option. Takes 5-6 hours. We recommend Giant Ibis or Virak Buntham
Saralya Superhost Tip: Do not confuse the “E-Class” (Ordinary) visa with the “e-Visa” (Electronic). They are different! If you want to stay long-term, do not get the online tourist e-Visa. Get the Ordinary (E-Class) Visa on Arrival at the airport.
Arrival by Bus (Phnom Penh, Bangkok, & Beyond) 🚌
If you are arriving overland, stick to the reputable companies for safety and comfort.
- Recommended Lines: Giant Ibis or Virak Buntham.
- Routes: Connects to Phnom Penh, Sihanoukville, Bangkok, Vietnam, and Laos.
- Arrival Tip: Most buses drop off at their private stations in Siem Reap. Use Grab or Pass App to get from the bus station to Saralya House (usually a short, cheap ride).
Arrival by Boat (The Scenic Route) 🚤
For the adventurous soul coming from Battambang or Phnom Penh (seasonal), the boat ride across Tonle Sap is stunning but slow.
- Saralya ProTip: The boat docks at Chong Kneas, about 30 minutes south of the city. You will need a Tuk-Tuk transfer to Saralya House.
Angkor Express Boat: Boat
Battambang to Siem Reap -><-Siem Reap to Battambang. Six hours of boating through the largest lake in SEA, Tonle Sap.
Cambodia River Express: Boat & Bus
Phnom Penh to Siem Reap -><- Siem Reap to Phnom Penh: This route has only been running for a month; it was reopened in November after 15 years of being closed. A great way to experience Tonle Sap Lake and see the countryside.
Saralya ProTip: Book online through 12Go Asia for Cambodia River Express for now because they are so new, they don’t have a website yet, only Facebook and Google Maps.
